John Chowderhead

Here is a website dedicated to the stuff white people like.  The title of course is tongue in cheek.  The website, Stuff White People Like, is written by a man by the name of Christian Lander.  Don’t worry, he’s a white guy, but we shouldn’t worry even if he wasn’t.  “Why wouldn’t we worry?” some may ask.  Because what he writes is true… well, in a general way.

Christian tackles everything from “threatening to move to Canada,” to “making you feel bad about not going outside.”  Christian has a unique ability to stand back from every white-cultured scenario and chronicle the absurdities which are non-evident to those on the inside.  Hopefully with the details he reveals we can all learn a little bit more about ourselves, even if it’s at our own expense.

Final Review +++

I give “Stuff White People Like” 3 Spoon-fulls of Chowder.  The content is original and the author does a good job of revealing funny behaviors and activities that people say or do.  In my view, Christian is a comedian that performs material via his blog.  The website is also very functional and easy to navigate.

Design ++++ I’m a fan of white backgrounds with black text.  Designing your website in such a way makes it easy to read for most people.  Navigation tabs at the top makes it easy to get to and from the various posts and pages.  Great flow with this website.

Content +++ The content is definitely unique and I find it very entertaining and revealing.  Posts are not updated very regularly but when a new post comes out, it’s usually well thought out.  You won’t find much more than stuff white people like on this blog however (as the name implies) so after reading the current posts, you feel a lack for usefulness of the content.  Great job overall however.

Usability +++ Good job on usability with this site.  There are tabs at the top that link to a page of all of the stuff white people like, and the RSS feed is easy to access at the top of the page.  The only problem I see with this site, and that I see with many sites, is that there are too many posts on the front page.  This causes the scroll bar to become too condensed at the right of the screen and can make it difficult for some people to click their mouse on the bar in order to drag the page up and down.  Aside from that, the site is almost perfect concerning usability.

Christian is not a Chowderhead Blogger, however, he is definitely white because he likes blogging about stuff that white people like.
